Yesterday I mentioned how Apple Cider Vinegar is a good way to help fight bacteria in those pesky pimples. Today, I am going to share with a mask that does the same!
Home Remedy #2: Cinnamon and Honey Mask
Honey is sticky and cinnamon is spicy and you would never think of putting either of those near your skin, let alone, on it! Surprisingly, while it may sound strange, honey and cinnamon make a “killer” combo when it comes to acne. Cinnamon has anti-microbial properties, so it can help stop bacteria from getting out of hand. If it does get out of hand, honey is a natural anti-biotic, ready and waiting to wipe the little buggers out.
Directions: Rinse your face with water and pat dry. Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon together until they are thoroughly blended and have formed a paste. Apply the mask to your face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off completely and pat face dry. This is undoubtably a sticky mixture so makeup sure you have washcloths on hand to help remove.

Your skin is your friend. You like your skin and your skin likes you. It protects you from the elements and literally keeps you together. You in turn do your best to protect it from any kind of damage. Then, one day, acne rears its ugly head, and you suddenly hate your skin. What do you do then? Turn to harsh chemicals and expensive scrubs? That’s a fine way to thank a friend who’s been there for you since day one. Your epidermis isn’t at fault here. It can’t help that your hormones are causing all that extra oil to clog your pores, or the fact that bacteria is running rampant. If your skin could talk it would say something along the lines of “Patience there dear. Treat me right and I shall repay you.”
Here are some home remedies that can help you keep those pesky pimples “under control” without harsh chemicals and draining the wallet.
Home Remedy #1: Apply some Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar is a powerhouse when it comes to acting as an acne remedy. Why? It kills off the bacteria that may be causing all the trouble in the first place. It also becomes alkaline, and balances the pH of your skin, which in turn makes it harder for bacteria to thrive. To top it off, it’s an astringent and will dry up excess oil. Keeping that in mind, don’t overdo it and dry out your skin too much. This could cause the sebaceous glades to overproduce oil to try to compensate for the lack of natural oils your skin needs.
Directions: Wash your face with water and pat dry. Using a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, dip a cotton ball into the vinegar and apply it directly to the blemish. Leave on for at least 10 minutes, or overnight. Reapply several times during the day and wash face thoroughly after each time. Make sure to use a moisturizer afterwards as well if your skin feels like it is getting dry.
Tomorrow I will announce the 2nd at Home Remedy!
Top 3 “Must- Haves”!
Rimmel Natural Bronzer: You should really invest in a bronzer, and it’s all about choosing the right color for you. If you are fair/light I would go for a very light brown with just enough color to make a slight difference because you don’t want to go for a super dark brown it will end up giving you a “dirty-like” look on your beautiful skin. So opt for a Pale Pink blush instead. It will give you a natural flushed look. If you’re a medium skin, tan or dark complected,I would go for a medium to deep bronzer. Just apply one or two strokes of your bronzer to the hollows of your check bones, sides of your forehead and that completes this step.
BB cream or a Tinted Moisturizer: I know Monday mornings can feel like a drag, so Instead of wearing a full face of foundation I reach for a BB cream or a Tinted Moisturizer. It’s so much easier to apply, evens out my skin tone and it gives me enough coverage to walk out of my house without having a bare face and gives me some SPF too which is really important to wear.
Rimmel Translucent Powder: If you rather wear just your tinted moisturizer and skip the bronzer. Make sure you are setting your face with a powder. I like using a translucent powder because I want something that will set my makeup and lock it in place but not deposit color. Throughout the day I like to retouch my face and if I were to use a regular compacted powder that matches my skin tone it will keep adding color to my face and end up looking caked on! (not the natural look we are striving for here)

So what better way than getting some “Must-Have” products, to achieve your “Natural 5 Minute Look” to kick off your month? Below, I will give you the insides to achieving the look and not having to spend an arm and a leg!
Must-have Products: All of these items can be purchased at your local drugstore.
Instant Anti- Age Eye Eraser (Maybelline):
This product is amazing, at first I must say I was skeptical about trying it because I’ve been on the search for a great concealer to cover up my dark circles and it seemed like everything that I tried was just not giving me enough coverage. It really proved me wrong the consistency of it is nice and creamy to the point where you don’t need a lot to cover up your darkness, with one or two swipes onto you’re under eye and some quick translucent powder to set and honey, you’re good to go!
Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational:
This lip gloss is so pigmented that it delivers the color of a lipstick. Which sums up that you don’t need to put a lipstick on or a lip liner! The collections carries a variety of colors but I must say if you want to achieve the “Natural Look” go for these Lip Colors which are some of my Favorites:
- Nude Illusion 060
- Glistening Amber 055
- Petal Plush 100
Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara:
Do not forget your mascara ladies! This is a very crucial part in achieving your “Natural 5 minute” look. Why is it so important? Well, it enhances your lashes which will give you a more awake look, and it will also help define your eye shape and give the illusion of bigger eyes. This is my go to Product to enhance the length of my lashes and ladies if black is too harsh for you opt for a brown Mascara which will give you an even more Natural Look.
