False Eyelashes…Give them a try!

Many of our brides come to us for their trial not knowing if they want lashes the day of their wedding.  Many of our brides are very “natural” gals and haven’t tried on false eyelashes ever!  Let me just say….”That is what trials are for.”  Trials are meant to “try” things that you have never tried before or even thought you would want to try.

Many of the photographers that refer Team Beauti to their brides LOVE it when the bride is willing to wear false eyelashes on the wedding day.  The difference it makes is amazing. No matter how full or long your natural lashes are, false lashes add an extra boost that photographs beautifully.

There are many different types of eyelash bands to choose from so when you have your trial, ask the artist to see what she has to offer.  Some are very natural, some add volume, some add length and some do all the above!  When applied properly, no one but you will know you’re even wearing them.  It’s also a good idea to tell your makeup artist to use the waterproof glue that is available in the event that you might cry on your wedding day.  If you’re one who likes dramatic/glamorous eyes, companies such as MAC make eyelash bands that can go on your bottom lashes as well to give them a boost!

When you have time, look at our photos on Team Beauti’s web site or Facebook page.  Majority of the brides are wearing lashes…can you tell?

Painless Skin Rejuvenation with IPL

Before and After

IPL, short for Intense Pulsed Light therapy, is a non-surgical Photofacial Skin Care Treatment. IPL is a very effective, no down time, safe method for removing pigment,  brown spots, scars, and excess or broken blood vessels from the facial skin.

Browns spots, broken blood vessels around the nose, chin and cheeks are classic signs of sun damage and aging of the facial skin. Brown spots, often called age spots are caused by pigment that is produced by the skin to protect the skin from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun. New blood vessels grow into the skin in response to skin injury, first to wash out damaged skin debris and later to bring in healing factors.

As our skin ages, the brown spots and broken blood vessels are left behind on the skin after the inflammation or skin injury has passed. These pigmented and red vascular spots create an aged appearance to the skin which is called dyschromia. Photofacial skin care treatments or IPL treatments are the non-surgical anti-aging skin care treatment of choice for benign facial skin pigmentation, age spots, acne, scars and broken blood vessels. Photofacial treatments are now preferred over laser treatments for these specific pigment and vascular lesions.

How Do IPL Non-surgical anti-aging Skin Care Treatments Work?

IPL or Photofacial anti-aging skin care treatments use a bright flash of visible light, like the light of a camera flash to remove pigment and blood vessels non-surgically from the skin. This pulsed or flashed light is very different from a laser and in most instances, less powerful and less dangerous that laser light.

Photofacial skin rejuvenation works by passing a flash of bright light through a filter that only allows a specific color of light in the flash to pass through the filter and hit the skin. When the Photofacial light energy is absorbed by the pigment or blood vessel, the heat from the IPL light destroys the pigment or blood vessel by heating it.  This process is called Target Specific Photothermolysis. A specific target, that is a color, is heated (thermo) with a light (photo) beam and dissolved or destroyed (lysis).

Using color filters placed in front of the Intense Pulsed Light beam, a wide variety of colors can be allowed through to treat many different skin conditions including hair removal, acne, and others.

What Will My Skin Look Like Immediately After a Photofacial Skin Care Treatment?

Unlike lasers, which can cause the skin to peel and possibly leave scars, IPL treatments are very gentle on the skin. The pigment in the brown spot or age spot will darken very slightly, and the treated blood vessel will also darken a bit. However the skin will be intact. The treated areas may also be slightly pink for a few hours. You may return to work. And your skin will be nearly normal the next day.

Does An Intense Pulsed Light Skin Care Treatment Hurt?

There is minimal discomfort during an IPL care treatment. Anesthesia or numbing medicine is not required. When the IPL flash hits the skin you will feel a small snap or sting, but this is easily tolerated by all of my patients.

Say “I do” to a beautiful you!

Wedding season is gracefully approaching and yes, there really is a wedding season!  Not too many brave soldiers plan their wedding in the the dead heat of summer or during the threat of a hurricane!

Are you one of the many blissful brides preparing for your big day?  It’s one of the biggest days of your life and you want nothing more than to look absolutely radiant, stunning, glamorous, and “knock his socks off” gorgeous.  Maybe some of you are already blessed with all that but most of us ladies have to work at it!  So how does all that happen between now and your big day?

Here’s a few tips:

If your wedding is a year out, or maybe even six months out, you can start a very simple exercise to start burning some calories and tone up….walking!   Walking is an excellent form of exercise that we can all do.  If you aren’t completely satisfied with what the scale is telling you each and every morning (and yes, I know you’re getting on there each and every morning) then find 20-30 minutes each day and walk.  Whether it’s before jumping in the shower each morning, after dinner or even on your lunch break, find a buddy and start walking.  Here’s a tip if you don’t like the heat: Walk the mall, it’s air-conditioned!  No frequent stopping though (if you know what I mean!)  You will be amazed with the results!

Looking for your skin to be absolutely flawless?  Who isn’t?  Your picture will be taken over 1000 times on your wedding day!  If you don’t have a skin care regimen already, get one!  It’s so important to have a daily skin care routine that is geared towards the age your skin is acting.  BeautiControl has an excellent skin care system that does just that.   It’s the only line I’ll use on my clients during facials.  They love the results and I love that they love the results!  It’s a win win!

In addition to a good skin care regimen, drink!  And I don’t mean alcohol, coffee or soda.  I mean WATER!  You’re not going to believe this but it’s the BEST thing to drink and readily available.  Might not taste like the best thing, I know, but…it’s so important to keep your body hydrated.  Your organs need it to detoxify and your skin will thank you for it.  Hydrated skin looks youthful, more radiant and healthy.  Add a little splash of lemon or lime, the L-Ascorbic Acid (also known as Vitamin C) is great for your skin and it adds a bit flavor.  Another win win.

Last but certainly not least, have a professional makeup artist do your makeup on your wedding day.  If you’re on a budget, as most people are, this is the one area where you shouldn’t skimp.  Professional makeup artists know the tricks of the trade to make you look absolutely flawless.  They know how to enhance the features you like and minimize the ones you don’t.  And remember, your face will be in over 1000 pictures.  Your makeup has to be perfect and it has to last for at least 10 hours.  If you’re confident you have what it takes to do that, best of luck, if not, call upon a professional.  You’ll be glad you did!

Okay, so you have made the commitment to tie the knot.  Now make the commitment to look amazing and feel amazing while tying the knot!

I see a very beautiful bride in your future!
